CoRMSA represented Human Rights Defenders and participated at a Round Table Discussion at the European Union Delegation in Pretoria on current issues and updates on Human Rights issues in South Africa on the following issues:
The purpose of the discussions is to assist in informing the EU Delegation on civil society views on the following issues which are foreseen to be discussed during the SDF:
- Global Human Rights issues and update on human rights in South Africa and the EU
- Racism, Xenophobia, and related intolerance
- The Right to Development
- Gender Equality and Women Empowerment
- Legally Binding Instrument on Transnational Corporation and other Business Enterprises with respect to human rights
- Elaboration of International Regulatory Framework Relating to the Activities of Private Military and Security Companies
- Cooperation in the UN multilateral human rights platforms:
- Priorities for the 55th Session of the HRC (26 February- 05 April 2024)
- Third Committee priorities
- 68th Commission on the Status of Women
- Engagement with civil society and the role of Human Rights Defenders
